VDW load cell

The perfect entry-level model
The self-centring VDW pressure load cell from Schenck Process is highly sought after as it satisfies the growing call for low-cost but high quality weighing solutions. Since 2008 our range has featured this model as an alternative to our familiar, long-life RTN load cell.

The VDW load cell is based on proven RTN technologies. For example, it includes the shield concept, which functions without a conductive link to the load cell body and also perfectly protects the VDW load cell from electromagnetic interference, assisted by the integrated overvoltage protection.

Special features: The characteristics and output impedance have been balanced so well that there is no need for subsequent corner balancing in a multiple load cell unit.

The self-aligning oscillating cell keeps transverse forces away from the cell even if the weighbridge has major horizontal deflection. The much simpler mount elements mean that the introduction of load is simpler.

Comparison with the RTN load cells. VDW load cells have a higher height, no elastomer mounts and lower reset torque. When braking on the scales, the weighbridge therefore impacts with more force against the shock absorbers and needs longer to settle. The bottom line is that the low-cost VDW load cell is a perfect entry-level model.

Weighing Sensors - Common and Special Applications

RTN ring torsion load cells:
For reliable, calibrated accuracy filling of valuable bulk materials in case of hopper scales.
Rated load: 1 t – 470 t. Accuracy classification: +/- 0.05% to C4 Mi-7.5

RTB ring torsion load cells:
For reliable, calibrated accuracy filling of valuable bulk materials in case of hopper scales and platform scales.
Rated load 130 – 500 kg. Accuracy classification: C3/C3 Mi7.5/C6.

VBB load cells:
For rated loads under 1 t. Reliable, calibrated accuracy.
Rated load: 0.1 t – 0.5 t. Accuracy classification: D1 – C4

DWB weighbeam:
This is direct weighting technology which can easily be screwed directly onto the connecting construction without moving parts. It is designed for particularly rough environments.
Rated load: 1 t – 200 t. Accuracy classifications: +/- 0.3% to 0.1%

Measuring Eye, DMA Type:
Compact sensor for measuring forces and masses. Can be used in potentially explosive atmospheres, protected to IP 68.
